Hi, my name is Annie.

I won’t bore you with too much about me as I believe the truly juicy stuff is on the other pages of this site, but if you want to know a touch about me, here it is.

I have always placed a high value on education. I believe “knowledge is power” in my very core. I’ve also always pursued information - studying Business at Laurier University before diving into my Master’s of Design program. However through all that, I learned that only a fraction of learning happens in the classroom.

One of the biggest lessons about knowledge came from writing my cumulative project for my Master’s program - a paper called “The Narrative of Climate Change”. In this 2 year endeavour, I studied past and present communication strategies for the changing environment. I learned about psychology, various climate systems, related politics, the principles of climate science - if it was related to the environment, I tried to know as much as I could about it.

As I was parsing through endless articles and books, it dawned on me how crucial this information was yet how laborious and daunting it was to understand (not to mention the countless psychological, social, and economic barriers that decrease its accessibility). That was my motivation for this site and the weekly climate lessons I host on Instagram.

I realized there was a need to get fact-based, practical information in an interactive, visually engaging, and interesting way that builds knowledge and capacity for action. That is what I hope for this site and for the related platforms - that people can come, learn, engage, and hopefully leave more equipped to tackle this changing world than they were when they first arrived.

I hope this inspires you to learn more about our changing climate. Feel free to leave a comment or follow me!
